Forgave and Forbear – A Moral Story
By Ishraq Kamal Arafeh Rami is a young boy who had to travel with his family to a new town. He said goodbye to all the memories he made in the old place, including his school. In the new place, Rami enrolled in a new school as well. He was very eager to meet new friends and to make new memories. But a group of students did not like Rami for no reason. They teased him all the time by making bad jokes about him, kicking his bag whenever it was on the floor, making funny faces when he passed by them on the hallway, and so on. Rami felt sorry to have such incidents, but he never tried to act like them and treat them the same. Simply, he was PATIENT. One day, all his class including that group went to the pool. Rami knows how to swim, and he took diving classes back in his old town. He had good time in the water, and did not want to leave the pool for lunch break. The boys who used to tease him were also in the water, but suddenly, one of them started to scream calling his friend as he went into the water but never came up. His body was going down with his head facing the bottom of the pool. Rami heard their yelling, and within a second he dived and held that boy. His friends pulled their friend and Rami rushed to call for rescue, the coach came, and performed CPR. The young boy started to breathe. "He is fine, he is fine" Rami screamed. The boys looked at Rami and thanked him. One of them asked him: "Why you helped our friend, we did nothing but making your life miserable at the school." Rami smiled and said: " in Islam, Allah said: (forgive and forbear) - Al-Baqarah, Verse: 109, this means that Allah gives us two ways to react: to forgive or to make a revenge, but He suggests forgave is always better", and I forgave you indeed. The boys hugged Rami and he became their best friend. (Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend) – Fussilat, Verse: 34 God Almighty has spoken the truth |
